The Great Galapagos

Following a half term learning about the Galapagos Islands, Year 6 were set a task to create their own piece of artwork. The children used geographic knowledge to locate the islands and then spent time researching the vast variety of wildlife that inhabited the area. They were lucky enough to have their questions answered by Professor Steve Blake, who lived and researched the wildlife in the Galapagos.

On Monday, Year 6 were welcomed back after the break to a video directed specifically at them that answered all of the questions they had enquired about from their learning. It has been great to see how so many have been inspired by their learning and have created pieces of art.

There was such a variety across the year group; we have picked two from each class. Some have created 2D paintings, whilst other children chose to create 3D paper mache replicas of the island itself. There is a clay model of the infamous tortoise and a beautiful hanging wall art!
