Year 5 - This Week's Core Tasks

Key Learning this week 13/7/20:

1. Spelling
2. English
3. Maths
4. Science

If you are unable to access the online lesson above or would like to have a go at some of these tasks on paper, you can print off activities for each lesson at the bottom of the page.  These documents are all in colour but you do not need to be able to print in colour to complete them.

1.  Spelling

This week your words are all Science words.
Here are your words: classification, vertebrate, invertebrate, micro-organisms, amphibian, reptileinsect, mammal

Lesson 1
Play some games on "Spelling Frame" to practise the rule for this week.  Click on "Spelling Tiles" to play free games.
https://spellingframe.co.uk/spelling-rule/206/6-living-things

Lesson 2
Find out what each word means, if you don’t already know, and make a poster about all of the words showing what they mean through pictures.

Lesson 3
Today think of creative ways to practise as many of the spellings you made in Lesson 2 as possible. Maybe you could watch Miss Long’s spelling video or create colourful pictures. You could make the words out of Lego or rolled up paper. Let us know your amazing ways to inspire other people.

Lesson 4 –  Use BBC Bitesize to practise some different spelling rules.

4. Science

In this final week of term, we are going to look back at our work on Space. One of the things that you can find in space that wouldn’t naturally exist on earth is a comet.
This week, research comets and make a poster to show your understanding. Include facts about famous comets, how comets are made, what they look like. Here are some websites to help you.
